Abstract
Abstractc. RADIOCARBONIC CHRONOLOGY AND CLIMATIC CONDITIONS IN THE “CUEVA DELMILODÓN” (SOUTHERN CHILE) DURING THE LATE PLEISTOCENE. A synthesis of the radiocarbon ages on different remains of Mylodon sp. from “Cueva del Milodón” (Chile) is included and reanalysed; the climatic conditions in the area are discussed and hypothesis about the use of the alimentary resources for Mylodon sp. are formulated. We concludes that: 1) Mylodon sp. inhabited the cave among 13560 ± 180 and 10200 ± 400 years radiocarbon BP; 2) during that lapse it is verified in the area an advance of the glaciers; 3) Mylodon sp. could have developed a hibernation strategy to overcome unfavorable conditions; 4) the presence of Mylodon sp. In caves, without evidences of human activity, support the hypothesis about the use of it by this xenarthra.Downloads
