Abstract

The presence and characteristics of the tapetal mernbranes and orbicules found. in male cones of Apterocladus lanceolatus Arch., Brachyphyllum irregulare Arch., Tomaxeliia bijorme Arch. and Trisacocladus ttgrensis Arch. Are described. Previous literature about orbicules in recent and fossils plants are reviewed and comented. Some suggestions are made about the possible utility of orbicules in giving additional evidences in the study of fossil fructifications.
