TAXACEOXILON CUPRESSOIDES SP. NOV. FROM DHOKUTI IN THE RAJMAHAL HILLS, INDIA
Abstract
A description is given of a taxanean wood, Taxaceoxylon cupressoides sp. nov. collected from the Middle Jurassic rocks of Dhokuti in the Rajmahal Hills, India. Wood parenchyma and resin canals are absent and the tracheids are provided with tertiary spiral thickenings besides the bordered pits on their radial walls. In the nature of pittings, the wood also shows resemblances with Cupressaceae and Araucariaceae.Downloads
