SOBRE LA EDAD DE LA TAFOFLORA DE LA LAGUNA DEL HUNCO, PROVINCIA DE CHUBUT
Abstract
"An absolute age has been established on the base of K-Ar method. The result is 57 ± 3 m.y., which, after the Harland, Smith and Wilcock Time-scale is equivalent to the Upper Palaeocene. All previous results, based mainly on the comparison of the Hunco taphoflora with that from Pichileufú, in Río Negro Province and Lora-Coronel of Chile, are discussed. Therefore, the data obtained from the impressions of fossil leaves found in the Hunco and Pichileufú taphofloras can be used in relation to those discussed for other Palaeocene localities already studied in the Golfo de San Jorge and Bororó áreas, in the same Province.
