ARAUCARITES MITTRII SP. NOV., UN MEGASTRÓBILO PETRIFICADO DE RAJMAHAL HILLS, INDIA

Abstract

Se ofrece la descripción de una nueva especie de megastróbilo de araucaríacea petrificado coleccionado en Pakur, en Rajmahal Hills. Rodeando al eje central se presentan escamas seminíferas dispuestas espiraladamente, cada una de las cuales presenta, sobre la superficie adaxial, 1-2 óvulos invertidos. El tegumento interno es grueso, heterogéneo y no vascularizado. El nucelo está libre de tegumento interno y se adelgaza hacia la parte micropilar. Se ha realizado la comparación con las especies relacionadas conocidas del género Araucarites.
