Abstract
ARBORESCENT LICOPHYTES OF THE TUPE FORMATION,SIERRA DE MAZ, PROVINCE OF LA RIOJA. - The finding of arborescent lycophytes in tbe Tupe Forrnation, Sierra de Maz, province of La Rioja is reported in the present paper. Bank imprints and a large stem are described as Lycopodiopsis derbui, ?Bra silodendron pedroanum, and two other unnamed forms. They are comparable to Permian specimens from Chubut Province (Argentina) and Brasil. Previous paleoclimatic inferences about the Upper Paleozoic of Argentina, based on the absence of arborescent lycophytes in the Paganzo Basin, are discussed. According to palynological investigations, the Tupe Formation is not older than Late Carboniferous.Downloads
