NUEVOS AMONITES CAMPANIANOS DE LA ISLA JAMES ROSS ANTÁRTIDA.

Abstract

Se describe una nueva fauna de amonites registrada en las capas estratigráficamente inferiores de la Formación López de Bertodano en bahía Brandy, isla Jarnes Ross, Antártida. Como elementos novedosos en la región se registraron tres géneros - Anapachydiscus. Natalites y Caledonites - y especies de los géneros Baculites, Hauericeras, Kitchinites (Kitchinites), Kitchiniies (Neopuzosia) y Eupachydiscus, no reconocidos previamente en Antártida. La posición estratigráfica de los amonites descriptos y sus afinidades con faunas similares de otras regiones Indopacíficas, son indicadoras de una edad campaniana para los mismos.
