CARACTERES ICNOLOGICOS DE LA FORMACION CAMPANARIO (CAMBRICO SUPERIOR) EN SALTA Y JUJUY
Abstract
"In Salta and Jujuy provinces, the ichnologic contents from the Campanario Formation are described in outcrops of Puna and Cordillera Oriental. New taxa is added to the trace fossils previously known in this area. These are Conostichus sp., Monomorphiclinus cf. M. lineatus, cf. Arthrophucus sp., lsopodichnus sp., and Gordia sp., all with paleoenvironrnent and paleoecological signification. The appearence of Cruziana semtplicata gives chronologícal evidence. Mentioned record confirms the present datas that suggest a intense biological activity ocurred duríng the deposition of Campanario Forrnatíon. Number and variety of trace fossils preserved in this unit confirm this hypothesis. The trace fossils and sedimentological characters are consistent with a shallow marine paleoenvironment corresponding to litoral and sublitoral zones.Downloads
