Abstract

Se describe un nuevo taxón de la singular, reducida, aunque significativa fauna local de Aguas Chiquitas, procedente de la sección inferior de la Formación Río Loro (Paleoceno medio) en su localidad tipo. Se trata de un primitivo Notoungulata, Satshatemnus bonapartei gen et sp. nov., caracterizado por un gran P2, braquidoncia como en los Henricosborniidae y M1-2 con protocono e hipocono muy conectados. De relaciones inciertas, se lo clasifica como Notioprogonia incertae sedis.
