LOS GENEROS SELENOIDES OWEN Y CALATHIUM BILLINGS (RECEPTACULITACEAE) EN EL ORDOVICICO DE LA PRECORDILLERA DE SAN JUAN, ARGENTINA
Abstract
Specimens of the receptaculitid algae Calathium Billings, are described and ilustrated. They are associated with an early Arenigian fauna in the limestones of the San Juan Formation. Calathium constitutes part of the main components of an sponge-algal biohenn. Specimens of Selenoides Owen and bryozoans were collected in the middle part of the Las Aguaditas Fonnation (Llandeilian-Caradocian). They are included in a calcareous breccia. This is the first report about these receptaculitid genera from Southamerica.Downloads
