CYCLODENDRON ANDREISII NOV. SP. (LYCOPODIOPSIDACEAE, LYCOPHYTA) DEL PERMICO SUPERIOR DE URUGUAY

Abstract

A new species of Cyclodendron Krausel, based on a series of sequentially decorticated stems, from the Upper Pennian Yaguarí Formtion of northern Uruguay is described. Comments are made on the validity of this genus, which is accepted in the original sense of Krausel for stem impressions only. The new species is compared with other specimens from the South American Gondwana realm and a few extragondwanic genera.
