ACRITARCAS DEL ORDOVÍCICO TEMPRANO DE LA QUEBRADA DE CHALALA, NOROESTE DE ARGENTINA
Abstract
A scarse and relatively low- diversified acritarch assemblage has been recovered from the middle section of the Santa Victoria Group at the Quebrada de Chalala, Jujuy province , Argentina. Nine taxa are identified. One new species is erected: Cristallinium chalalensis Ottone n. sp .. Four species are left in open nomencJature. They comprise the leiosphaerids and three probably new species that are designated informally because of their numerical insufficiency. The microfIora has many species in common with the early Arenigian Lower Acoite Palynological Assemblage (AL) previously defined at the neighbouring Los Colorados and Río Cajas sections. However, owing to the absence of conspicuous forms of the AL as: Peteinosphaeridiurn trifurcatum intermedium Eisenack, Baltisphaerosum peniguelii Ottone and species of Striatotheca, a Tremadocian age could be also assigned to the palynofIora.Downloads
