PSEUDOCTENIS GIGANTEUS, NUEVA CYCADAL DE LA FORMACIÓN BAQUERÓ, CRETÁCICO INFERIOR DE ARGENTINA
AbstractPseudoctenis giganteus sp. nov., has been found at Mina El Super, a Cretaceous locality of Santa Cruz province. The fossils are impressions of large pinnate leaves bearing on a straight rachis ensiform pinnae with expanded catadromic and anadromic base and truncated apex. Veins are parallel and they curve close to the raquis. Comparisons with closely related genera as well as with different species of Pseudoctenis are made. This new finding confirms the important role that Cycadales have played during the Early Cretaceous in Patagonia.
