PALINOLOGÍA DE LA FORMACIÓN JEJENES (CARBONÍFERO) EN LA QUEBRADA DE LAS LAJAS, PROVINCIA DE SAN JUAN, ARGENTINA. NUEVAS INFERENCIAS PALEOAMBIENTALES
Abstract
"The palynological systematic study ofthe Jejenes Formation (Upper Carboniferous), at Las Lajas Creek is presented. A diversified palynological assemblage incIuding rnicrospores, megaspores, pollen grains and acritarchs has been recognized. Twenty one samples were revised and 25 species are identified. The paleoenvironmental interpretation of the sequence is based on acritarch-leiosphere-to-spore ratios. These indicate a nearshore marine environment for the basal and middle parts of the sequence; the interpretation is reinforced by dominantly woody organic matter in some samples. This paleoenvironmental evidence confirms the existence of the early Late Carboniferous postglacial transgression in the arca."Downloads
