NUEVO MATERIAL DE CAYPULLISAURUS BONAPARTEl FERNÁNDEZ (REPTILIA: ICHTHYOSAURIDAE) DEL JURASICO SUPERIOR DE LA CUENCA NEUQUINA, ARGENTINA
Abstract
A new specimen of Caypullisaurus bonapartei (lchthyosauria: Ichthyosauridae) from the Late Tithonian of Chacay Melehue (Neuquén, Argentina) is described. To date, this taxon was known only by the holotype and a partial skeleton, both from cerro Lotena (Early Tithonian, Neuquén, Argentina). This specimens fumish evidence that increases our knowledge of the South American ichthyosaurs, and permits to re-interpret the history of the group during the Jurassic.Downloads
