NUEVO MATERIAL DE EUMYSOPINAE (ECHIMYIDAE, RODENTIA) DE LA FORMACIÓN ANDALHUALA (TERCIARIO SUPERIOR), VALLE DE SANTA MARÍA, PROVINCIA DE CATAMARCA, ARGENTINA
Abstract
New material, a lower jaw fragment with an almost complete cheek teeth series, is described and referred to Eumysopinae gen. et sp. indet. The specimen has affinities with Pampamys emmonsae Verzi from the Upper Miocene of La Pampa Province. However, it differs from Pampamys in its molar morphology. This specimen increases the record of Eumysopinae with trilofodont (simplified) molars in northwestem Argentina. These rodents had an important southem radiation during Miocene-Pliocene times.Downloads
