Abstract

Los granos de polen de Trisacocladus tigrensis son de una morfología particular con tres pequeños y rudimentarios sacos aéreos, dirigidos distalmente, que en la unión de sus raíces proximales con el cuerpo presentan tres pequeñas depresiones (depresienes marginales). Estos caracteres no son compartidos por ningún otro tipo de polen de coníferas, ya sea entre las actuales o las fósiles, salvo el género de polen Trisaccites, con el cual presenta indudablemente una gran semejanza. Por el tipo de polen y la morfología de sus hojas y cono masculino, Trisacocladus encuentra su mejor ubicación entre las Podocarpáccas.
