NUEVOS MATERIALES y REINTERPRETACION DE LAGERPETON CHANARENSIS ROMER (THECODONTIA, LAGERPETONIDAE NOV.) DEL TRIASICO MEDIO DE LA RIOJA, ARGENTINA
Abstract
The anatomical part of vertebral column, pelvis and hínd limb of Lagerpeton chanarensis Homer is descríbed in this paper from two new specimens. Lagerpeton has a mixture of primitive characters (laminar pelvis, short and stout pubis, laminar ischia, asymmetrical foot), and derived types (anterior projection of the ilia, pneumatic femur, tibia longer than Iemur, with ventral process anteriorly, advanced mesotarsal tarsus, elongated metatarsaJ). The latter features distinguish this taxon from any known pseudosichian families (sensu, Bonaparte, 1982 a). Therefore, the new family Lagerpetonidae is proposed for this genus.Published
