COMUNIDAD DE BRlDGEROCRlNUS (CRINOIDEA:SCYTALOCRINIDAE) EN LA FORMACION TALACASTO (DEVONICO) DE LA PRECORDILLERA DE SAN JUAN, ARGENTINA.
Abstract
The genus Bridgerocrinus (Crinoidea, Scytalocrinidae) from Talacasto Formation (lower Devonian) is described. This genus occurs associated with crinoids of the families Cyathocrinidae and Calceocrinidae, ofiuroids (Argentimasler) and inarticulate brachiopods (Craneacea) and constitutes a very particular community in which Bridgerocrinus is the dominant taxon. On the basis of the general morphology of Bridgerocrinusits feeding behaviour (reofilic), as well as its position at some height above the substrate are deduced. It is suggested that both conditions led to the success of Bridgerocrinus within the community.Downloads
