Abstract

Graptolite assemblages are studied from the Las Aguaditas Formation in the type locality located in the Central Precordillera, San Juan, Argentina. A biostratigraphic study of the formation has allowed the recognition of the Paraglossograptus tentaculatus (upper part) graptolite Biozone and the Nemagraptus gracilis Biozone. The age of the Las Aguaditas Formation ranges from early Llanvim to Caradoc. The distribution of taxa, the fossil associations, the age, the local correlation, and the taxonomic and paleobiogeographical aspects are discussed.
